Things the Dragon Age fandom should be proud of:

  • Countless community run charity drives, fan-zines, and events have been lovingly crafted by fans, artists, writers, and content creators within the fandom, with many said events profiting LGBT+ support groups, poc communities, charities for children, and/or the disabled (Fortitudo, DA Calendar 2k18, The Unsung Zine, etc)
  • An unofficial-official Dragon Age day (Dragon4ge Day, Dec 4th) has been organized to commemorate the entire series and the painstakingly talented/hardworking writers, voice actors, and creators of the franchise as well as the fans and content creators that keep it all going (this project also contributes to charity- AbleGamers, for disabled gamers)
  • Countless fan-organized community events and giveaways are hosted across social media platforms all year long, including entirely free art raffles, pen-pal/secret Santa events, and creative writing/fan-fiction giveaways
  • An entire blog was created in dedication to promoting positivity, love, and inclusivity within the fandom and is warmheartedly managed without bias ( @fandom-age ) and if that doesn’t make you feel a little something, I’m not sure what will

It can be easy to forget about all of the good- but in the midst of negativity storms and fandom-discourse, there are a lot of positive things going on out there, too. Be proud of what our community can do. Your contributions are appreciated. Your support is meaningful. This community can be beautiful.

Ya’ll I’m *crying*.

So in Solas’s high approval scene where he tells the Inquisitor that he respects them, he starts talking about the Anchor, his magic, and says, “Has it affected you? Changed you in any way? Your mind, your morals, your… spirit?”

And I’m upset because one of the reasons he thinks that the Inquisitor is acting like a decent person IS BECAUSE HE THINKS HIS PERSONALITY HAS RUBBED OF ON THEM THROUGH THE ANCHOR. 😂😂😭

Now I’m just picturing,

“Has is affected you? Has it changed you in any way? Your mind, your morals, your… spirit?”

“Nah, not really.”

“Have you noticed… an increase in intelligence?”

“Uh-“

“Maybe a feeling of superiority?”

“I don’t-“

“What about hair loss?”

freud: EVERY dude wants to fuck his mom and and EVERY girl wants to fuck her dad and also wants to be a man secretly

men: WOW!!!!!!!!!

“In the 1890s, when Freud was in the dawn of his career, he was struck by how many of his female patients were revealing childhood incest victimization to him. Freud concluded that child sexual abuse was one of the major causes of emotional disturbances in adult women and wrote a brilliant and humane paper called “The Aetiology of Hysteria.” However, rather than receiving acclaim from his colleagues for his ground-breaking insights, Freud met with scorn. He was ridiculed for believing that men of excellent reputation (most of his patients came from upstanding homes) could be perpetrators of incest. Within a few years, Freud buckled under this heavy pressure and recanted his conclusions. In their place he proposed the “Oedipus complex,” which became the foundation of modern psychology. According to this theory any young girl actually desires sexual contact with her father, because she wants to compete with her mother to be the most special person in his life. Freud used this construct to conclude that the episodes of incestuous abuse his clients had revealed to him had never taken place; they were simply fantasies of events the women had wished for when they were children and that the women had come to believe were real. This construct started a hundred-year history in the mental health field of blaming victims for the abuse perpetrated on them and outright discrediting of women’s and children’s reports of mistreatment by men.”

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK ARE YOU KIDDING ME

Here I thought Freud was just a dumbass when it turns out he’s a multiclass Dumbass/Coward

Imagine getting it right and then getting it so very wrong

Freud: These women are exhibiting sexual trauma symptoms due to childhood sexual trauma.

Men: Ugh! How can you believe such a ridiculous notion??

Freud: I-I mean, um, all young girls secretly want to fuck their fathers, and all young boys secretly want to fuck their mothers, and their trauma symptoms are really just sexual frustration at not being able to act on it due to social shame.

Men: Okay, now THAT sounds legit!

I’m on my second PowerPoint of the night, working on the 19th slide. As it turns out, I only enjoy making lengthy presentations when the subject matter is Alistair Theirin and his amazing, dorky self.

Too bad my presentation is over Internet Gaming Disorder.

Otherwise, I’d roll in with that bad boy.
