I used to love Teagan all the way up to DA2…. what happened to him in Trespasser you think? He became a grumpy old man and I dont get it. Still lightyears better than Eamon tho.

I’m so sorry for just now answering your question, friend. I got, uh, distracted by a certain teaser. Heh.

Anyway, I think that Teagan has been through a lot in the 10 years since we met him in Redcliffe. Ten years in a heated political environment is bound to make one harsher and colder. He’s been living in a country divided by civil war, and it’s really only been about 50 years since the Orlesian occupation and only 10 years since the Blight and political upheaval that entailed. Not to mention we saw him as he was in opposition to the Inquisition, a force that could be interpreted as a threat to Fereldan sovereignty. It was the perfect storm for him to look like a jerk.

Perhaps a private conversation with someone outside of the Inquisition would have shown him more in his usual form. But who knows, time and hardship can change people, sometime for the better, sometimes for the worse.

But yeah, he’s still better than Eamon. Loads better. I’d take grumpy uncle Teagan over Eamon on his best day.

Another fact that ties into your theory, but if you go drink from the well in the temple of Mythal your Inquisitor hears voices, someone rewinded the voices on YouTube and the voices seem to be saying “the calling” who knows if you’re theory is correct but I don’t think it’s far off to think Solas or the he and the ancient elves in general have something to do with the blight and red lyrium

Ooh, I don’t know that I’ve heard of this before! Is there a link to the video? I’d love to check it out.

I also don’t know if my theory even close, really. I wrote it up at 2 am, hyped up on sheer excitement and sleep deprivation.

dalishious:

Honestly? Bless this trailer. Because if it weren’t for this trailer, showing us the red lyrium idol in higher graphics, I never would have noticed that pointed piece on the skeletal top figure’s head.

It reminds me of two things:

1) The depictions we’ve seen of Andraste:

2) The depictions we’ve seen of Mythal, and what Flemeth wears:

Given Andraste wasn’t even born at the time of the red lyrium idol’s creation most likely, (the thaig it was found in being pre-Blight) but we know from Trespasser that the ancient elves were underground harvesting lyrium and likely getting their magic orbs from Titans, and even built statues and places of worship underground, if there is any actual correlation and it’s not just a coincidence, I’m guessing it’s the later of the two.

Anyway, I’m not that surprised that red lyrium is still important to the plot, considering in Knight Errant and Deception, we see that not only do the Venatori still persist, but that they are looking for information about red lyrium. Whatever is going on, the nature of lyrium is probably a big key.

Do I have questions? Yes I have questions motherfucker let me go grab my list…

WHO IS THE ELF WITH THE STAFF

wyrdsistersofthedas:

Solas.  Almost guaranteed.  But there is a lot going on here.

The staff is super significant.  It is introduced to us in DA2 as Freedom’s Promise and it has a storied history that ties it to Aldenon, Calenhad, and the creation of Ferelden.  This new information leads us to believe that Aldenon was almost certainly an agent of Fen’Harel.

The model was later reused in Trespasser and given a new name: Heart of Pride.  The only way to get Heart of Pride is to solve the Veilfire puzzle in the Unknown Ruins that are connected to the Deep Roads by this hidden eluvian.

Inside the eluvian is a ruin, a Fen’Harel statue, a mural, and the Veilfire puzzle.

Zooming in on the mural we see some of the same iconography from the just released DA4 teaser.  Notice the orb-like object in the right elf’s hands.  This is the same symbol as the half circles in the mural from the trailer.

They are reusing iconography here for a reason.  Notice that the circle surrounding the Titan and the one surrounding the red lyrium statue have the same pattern as well.  This suggests that this surrounding circle is meant to represent the realm of the Titans, the Abyssal Void.

The juxtaposition of the the orb symbols in the old and new image may mean that the half circles represent, not just the Evanuris as we previously speculated, but the hearts of Titans as well.  There is a connection between both!  The orbs were likely the source of the Evanuris’ power and therefore are representative of the seven sealed gods as well.  Two of the orbs being highlighted could symbolize two of the evanuris awakening…..

Or could mean that their orbs have been found by the Dread Wolf?!?  He needs orbs to bring down the Veil.  Well, shit.

“Where the Dread Wolf’s gaze blazes, paths are brought to light"

Thanks for the ask, Nony!  Also, shout to @thebearmuse for reminding us about Heart of Pride!
