Another [Probably Wrong] DA4 Fan Theory

I made a post forever ago about why Solas hates the Grey Wardens, and because Tumblr is not letting me search my own blog, I can’t seem to find it.  However, in lieu of the recen announcement, I have some major Feelings that I need to say before I can even try to sleep.

Before, I said that Solas resented the Wardens because he sees his own mistakes repeated in them.  There are SO many parallels: the secrets, the mistakes, the taking of drastic measures to save a world that thinks you’re a monster. And that is just the tip of the iceberg.  However, now, with the teaser, I am beginning to wonder if it is more than just a parallel.  What if Solas actually is a Grey Warden.  The OG Grey Warden.

You may say “Allison, that’s insane. You’re crazy!”  But I say, take a seat my friends and hear me out and follow me beneath the cut.

Take a look at this image provided by Chris Cringle Anderson on the Twitter:

In this mural we see what is very obviously a dark corrupted Dread Wolf, and in opposition to that wolf, we see a figure that looks like Solas.  In the Middle, there is a tainted idol that looks as if the taint has been slowed or stopped by something. (My very rudimentary analysis of this mural).

Solas reportedly created the Veil to stop his Evanuris comrades from some horrible thing that they were about to do. They had discovered something dark and corrupted, and it threatened to destroy The People.  I believe that this corruption was the Blight, which came from a Red Lyrium Titan.  In stopping the spread, Solas himself took on some of the corruption, much like Grey Wardens take on the dark spawn corruption.

Eventually, such corruption turns one into a monster, unless of course one goes to die first.  Solas says both “I would not have you see what I become,” and also “I walk the dinan’shiral. There is only death on this journey.”  To me it seems he is facing his “Calling” and that the proverbial Dread Wolf is the taint within him.

He speaks about how he did not choose the title (like conscription), but that he wore it as a badge of pride (hrrmmm). Solas, just like the Wardens, is driven by duty to his mission above all else. Sometimes even above reason.

Fen’Harel was able to walk between both the evanuris and the forbidden ones equally, without being perceived as a threat, just like Wardens/Darkspawn/People.

If you’re anything like me, it has been difficult to connect the threads between Solas’s story and the major theme of the universe.  Why is this one man so important?  Perhaps it is because his story is about the Blight.  Maybe he hates the wardens because they are interfering with his plans or because they are being reckless and foolish, and are going to cause just as much pain as he once did.  Who knows.  This is all highly speculative.

It is my belief that Solas intends to rid the world of the blight once and for all by taking it all into himself, and then by some means being destroyed, much like a Grey Warden kills an Arch Demon.

If this is true, then Solas is not the Dread Wolf.  He is not the enemy.  However,  he is slowly becoming more tainted.  The Dread Wolf has caught his scent. The Dread Wolf is Rising.

I’m certain that others have much more intricate analyses, but I needed to type something out to get it off of my chest so that maybe my brain isn’t screaming so loud by the time I decide to go to bed.

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

jawsandbones:

The Idol shown in the trailer has the same likeness as the one found in DA:2. However, it is not the same idol. That idol was made into Meredith’s sword, which is now infused with Meredith herself. Meredith, as we saw her in DA:I, is currently in The Black Emporium.

So, we have multiple copies of the same Idol. Found in one of the oldest Deep Roads, it stands to reason that this is the image of Mythal. The Elven Pantheon had gone into the Deep Roads before. It’s been theorized that Solas was Mythal’s servant, until he ‘burned her off his face’, so the figure clinging to her could be Solas.

Mythal, Andraste and Flemeth all have the same story. They attempt to do good, and are betrayed by someone close to them – usually a lover. Elgar’nan. Maferath. Conobar. It could be that Mythal, Andraste, and Flemeth are one and the same – simply Mythal hopping to new bodies. (Such as Flemeth does with her daughters.) I think that Solas was there to witness two of these betrayals: Mythal as her servant, and Andraste as Shartan.

The figure to the left of the Idol shown in the teaser could be Elgar’nan: showing the betrayal of Mythal in the center, and the Dread Wolf’s coming vengeance on the right. Around the Idol are Seven Moons: 5 dark and 2 still lit. 5 dark for the five slain Archdemons, and 2 lit for the 2 remaining.

It’s likely Dragon Age 4 will see a double event in terms of a Blight, with both Razikale and Lusacan making an appearance. I’ve spoken of this before, but I believe that the Old Gods and the Elven Pantheon were closer than originally believed. I think they worked together to create the Blight and therefore, Red Lyrium, as shown on the Idol.

If the figure is of Elgar’nan, we know he is a mage and I theorize, likely has the same markings that Fenris does. Except these were done correctly.

It’s to this that I suggest that Dragon Age 4 will be a part One of sorts. We will be facing Solas, who will unleash the Elven Pantheon and trigger the double event Blight. Part Two will be dealing with what he’s done.
