IS THAT THE SAME TREE WTF

That tree in the top image is awfully… golden.

And the one on the bottom looks rather… black.

(@bohemiantea-scorpiocoffee have you seen this?!)

Oh fuck I never thought but now I see this I’m 100% sold on the concept

Look at the pattern on the ground!! And the greenish sky and mountains in the background. It’s all the same in both. I’m definitely on board with this being the Golden/Black City.

(Not to mention the obvious parallels with the wolves, and the positioning of tree-Solas-wolf. And how he changes direction to oppose (I think?) the wolf in the mural. Gah!)

text overlaid atop the dragon age logo that reads “@moonlightbrunette is one of my absolute faves in the Dragon Age fandom. In addition to her stunning OCs and brilliant writing, she’s hilariously funny, and I consider her a dear friend who I can always count on to cheer me up when I’m feeling down. If you haven’t read her works, go check them out!”

i…. is that the twisted tree from the emerald graves? isn’t there a wolf statue in front of it???

Oh damn. Not only that, there’s a circular ruin in that spot and the entrance is flanked by statues of Fen’Harel and Mythal.

NNNNNNN! I KNEW IT WASN’T JUST SOME RANDOM ASS TREE!

@lyrium-lovesong In all the sharing flurry last night, someone from bioware plainly stated that the artist for this mural is VERY intentional. Everything is in its place for a reason.Straight from the source, that is not just a tree!

I did a quick color overlay of the three figures on the red lyrium idols for it to be easier to see! Also important to note that the figure on the far right’s left arm is partially missing

Arm is missing. Arm is missing. Inquisitor?!

Really all this fan theories and speculations drive me crazy. I’m so afraid bioware rips my heart in two *again* Well I just care way too much for this damn egg.

Good job! Thanks for the color overlays, it’s very helpful!

(For reference, here is what Solas has to say about the Blight, darkspawn and the Grey Wardens, all together.)

  • Solas: Your Order… the Grey Wardens…
  • Blackwall: What about them?
  • Solas: The Wardens see themselves as the world’s defense against the Blight, do they not?
  • Blackwall: Yes… why do you sound so skeptical? Doesn’t everyone know this?
  • Solas: When an Archdemon rises, they slay it. What will they do when all the Archdemons are slain?
  • Blackwall: Retire?
  • Solas: Without Archdemons, there can be no Blights. Is that the reasoning?
  • Blackwall: Right. Where are you going with this?
  • Solas: Nowhere. I hope they are correct.

Typical Solas.
Acting all smug because he been-there-dun-it, sharing *none* of the knowledge he has, condemning people for trying to do their best with what they have, offering no sound alternatives…
And all that with HIS impressive record of fuck-ups. Not to mention his plans for the future.

Wardens sacrifice THEIR lives and sanity to hold back the Blight and protect people from what is quite possibly one of your old friend’s fuck-up.

You are about to sacrifice *everyone else* to clean up your own mess and to give a second shot to a bunch of ancients who, honestly, don’t really deserve it, not if it means the world must burn for them to return.
And you dare scoff at the Wardens.

I mean I like you, Solas, but go get fucked by an ogre.

I think solas offers no alternative because there is none that he honestly knows of yet. Otherwise he would have suggested something else. He’s against needless sacrifice and thinks that is what the grey wardens do. Needlessly sacrifice their lives and the lives of others because Solas has not seen an actual honest to god blight. He just woke up from the fade, which is notorious for showing both sides to any major event to effect thedas. Because of this ‘knowledge’ he thinks he might be able to do bettee/ risk less but we will see in an actual blight how that unfolds. Until then, I’m withholding judgement. He has yet to sacrifice anyone that we have seen. Just because he plans to doesn’t mean he is able to follow through.

That doesn’t not make him right or all seeing or all knowing in any sense. He sees how bad things have gotten and is striving to fix his mistakes without releasing the elven pantheon for fear of more suffering. It might be tied to the last of the archdemons and it may not. We just don’t know yet. He hasn’t said and we don’t have all the pieces to his puzzle just yet and can only make assumptions at this point.

It doesn’t excuse his actions. He’s just like Anders in this. Willing to sacrifice a body of people regardless of our thoughts on the matter to make a change in the world overall. This was how the mage templar war started. I doubt it will be the last major change for thedas that we will see.

I also think Solas’s scorn for the Wardens is more than simply “I know better than you.” I think there is usually more to all of his perceived arrogance than a simple I know better. It’s my personal opinion that he is fighting the Blight and has been fighting the Blight on a much larger scale than the Wardens for a long long time.

There is some speculation that the Arch Demons have actually been restraining the Blight, holding back some big dark corruption possibly the Blighted Evanuris, the Blighted Titan, something.

Whether or not that is true, it’s my opinion that Solas believes the warden to be getting in the way of his own plan whatever that might be. He’s annoyed at them. Perhaps he does see a lot of his own mistakes repeated in them. Who knows?
